I Ching reading for 2009: 54 The Marrying Maiden, and 19 Approach
Consulting the oracle we receive Hexagram 54, the Marrying Maiden: "Undertakings bring misfortune. Nothing that would further." Well------------ Nothing is more difficult than doing nothing, especially for a modern American, regardless of personal or political persuasion. What is "doing nothing" anyway? Lying down and waiting to die? That seems like quite an undertaking. One is always doing something. There is always something to which one inevitably responds.
So we might consider the difference between "undertakings" and just taking care of the business of the moment. Make the soup. Fix the car. Call Mom. It isn't time to charge into action to save the world. Not at just this moment anyway. Not that that isn't on your mind. This is a strange time. Enormous reason for hope. So much to fear. And it really is beginning to look like no one knows the answer. With "The Free Marketeers" calling for more government, and lefties acting like libertarians---------------------------------- Perhaps it is time to stop, to to investigate, to contemplate, to consider, to discuss-----------------------------------
So this is about waiting. For the right time. Not throwing oneself away on useless ventures. But as we are reminded continually by the oracle, nothing lasts. And with a nine in the fourth place we also receive Hexagram 19, Approach. "Supreme Success. Perseverance Furthers." "The superior woman and man are inexhaustible in their willingness to teach, and without limits in their tolerance and protection of the people." There will be much to do. It will require enormous patience. The answers will not be obvious or easy. And it will be important to move decisively when the moment arrives. We are reminded again this this time of Approach also will only last for so long.
So, quite simply, How ready are you for change? Not just "Get the criminals out of the White House" change, but for a world that may not be anything like what you ever thought of? Possibly even "Supreme Success." Perseverance Furthers.
Mr. R. Qui suffered a "heart opening" on the fifth of December of 2001. Spiritual teachers from several traditions have suggested that this was, in fact, a true awakening. Qui answered, " And now that I am Enlightened, I am as miserable as ever! " We were disappointed to hear that Nirvana is not as much fun as advertised, but we like his readings. The Editors.
